Preliminary results from Nevada Housing Division’s annual Taking Stock survey show overall vacancy rate in the 4th quarter of 2022 for Nevada's Low Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) properties was 3.4%, up nearly a full percentage point from last year’s rate of 2.5%.

The 2019 report showed the same patterns observed in 2018. Nevada reported the fourth highest proportion of senior households of any state (48%). Thirty-six percent of households in Nevada's LIHTC housing were extremely low income, and 58% experienced moderate or severe rent burden.

The affordable housing winning streak continued in 2022. The total subsidized units in Washoe and Clark Counties increased to 31,334 units. In the case of Washoe County, the net increase in subsidized units even outpaced population growth.

Housing consumers are invited to join Silver State Fair Housing Council forums focused on protections for people with disabilities. The virtual forums will be offered three times this January, the 10th, 20th and the 30th. Additional forums focused on families with children and a set of Spanish language forums will also be offered this January.

NVHousingSearch.org is now supported by a new platform, MyHousingSearch.com, and new call center, Expivia. One feature offered through the new call center is a “chat” button, providing yet another route to access customer support for the locator.

Ground breaking Ceremony on Nov 4th in Mesquite Nevada to mark the beginning of construction for Hafen Village, 96 affordable housing units for working families in the rural border city Clark County.

The 2022 Affordable Housing Dashboard is now available. The dashboard found an increase in affordable units per thousand population in Washoe County.

A grand opening November 4th celebrated brand new Decatur Commons with 480 affordable housing units geared towards low-income families and seniors. The community boasts spacious 1-, 2-, and 3-bedroom apartments. Decatur Commons was developed jointly by George Gekakis Inc., and Nevada HAND.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held Oct. 18, 2022 for Vintage at Washington Station. It will provide 205 new units of affordable senior housing. The project will have mostly one bedroom units with a small number of studios. The new units will be on an infill site in downtown Reno between Washington and Vine Street. Construction is planned to finish sometime in 2024.
