Weatherization for Renters & Homeowners

Weatherization improves both livability and energy efficiency by better protecting a home from the elements. It’s especially important in Nevada, where extreme temperatures can drive up utility bills and create uncomfortable—even unsafe—living conditions.

If you are an eligible homeowner or renter, you can apply for weatherization assistance through the state-supported Weatherization Assistance Program with no direct cost to you. The button below offers information about applying.

How to Apply for Weatherization Assistance

What’s Included?

A trained energy auditor will visit your home to check for energy waste and safety issues. Based on their findings, your home could get improvements like:

  • Air leak sealing

  • Weather-stripping

  • Insulation

  • Energy-efficient light bulbs

  • Low-flow shower heads

  • Pipe wraps

  • Solar screens

Who’s Eligible?

This program is available to renters and homeowners with household incomes at or below 200% of the federal poverty level.

What Does it Cost?

The program is free for eligible renters and homeowners.

How it works for renters:

  • If you live in a single-family home, you just need your landlord's approval.

  • If you're in a multi-family building, your landlord may need to cover 50% of the cost for major upgrades. If they choose not to contribute, you can still get basic weatherization improvements.
