Steamboat at the Summit
A ground-breaking ceremony was celebrated July 24th, 2018 for the new 360-unit affordable property, Steamboat at the Summit. The apartments will be built at the intersection of Geiger Grade and South Virginia Street in Reno, providing easy access to Reno, Carson City and the Mt. Rose Highway to Lake Tahoe. Summit Mall will be across the street from the new apartment complex.
Ninety one-bedroom units, 180 two-bedroom units, 90 three-bedroom units, and a 4,000 square-foot community clubhouse with swimming pool are planned for the property. The complex will be next to Steamboat Creek with access to a walking and bike path along it. The project is aiming for high energy efficiency with EnergyStar appliances, thermal pane windows, and high efficiency heating and cooling equipment. Apartments will have a washer and dryer, pantries and balcony or patio as well as many other amenities.
The complex will be affordable to households with an income of 60% of area median income. As of 2018, a four person family with 60% area median income had an annual income of $44,100.
The property is being developed by Greenstreet Companies and Vintage Housing and will be managed by FPI Management Company.
